As we know these tools vary school to school and teacher to teacher. In addition, technology changes (sometimes daily) and with a typical 5 year curriculum process, what was once cutting edge, may become very passé in 5 years. It is clear through your response that you fully embrace differentiation and UDL.

You have earned full credit for this assignment - thank you for sharing your reflections!

LeeannUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12012897620931051189noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6986700879713815539.post-50291972096983753642010-01-22T20:54:10.828-08:002010-01-22T20:54:10.828-08:00Andrea - this is awesome! Your approach was aligned with the teacher's current level of experience and the strengths/needs observed in the lesson. This is the key for administrators: differentiate the supervision and PD (within the legal/negotiated agreement parameters)to meet the unique needs of the teachers in the school. You questions about teacher assignments are valid. I mentioned to my IT person today that I would love a wireless school so that we could move beyond the physical limitations that ethernet/cable causes. He said that wireless was not the answer, that how was he to load all of the school software on all of the laptops and how were the students going to recharge their laptop batteries because they would not last all day! He will ALWAYS see the glass half empty! I know what the positive factors are of being a one-laptop-per-child school (which presumably implies wireless connectivity), but how does your school address some of the negatives?Andrea Christmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04708535087949160210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6986700879713815539.post-55945954352066451752009-10-07T14:04:40.551-07:002009-10-07T14:04:40.551-07:00Excellent job, Andrea! I wonder if those limits were removed, what the configurations of student desks would look like? In an ideal world, how would teachers arrange their rooms? Creativity and innovation aside, 35 students seems like an awful lot and really limits the possibilities too!Paul Georgehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15041599372911766438noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6986700879713815539.post-21669559740276740772009-08-27T17:20:11.457-07:002009-08-27T17:20:11.457-07:00Andrea, great blog. I had to laugh because it is too upsetting otherwise. There is nothing wrong with the "vision" but she thought it up, typed it up on nice little cards, distributed it to the leadership team and "we" are in charge of taking it to the staff at the August preservice. Because it is not a "shared vision" it lacks realism. I don't how long we will remember it through the year, because we don't "own" the vision. I really don't know how the staff will react, but I am sure people will try to buy in, just don't think the commitment will be there to make it enduring....Andrea Christmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04708535087949160210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6986700879713815539.post-13194163438260364302009-08-06T11:33:23.932-07:002009-08-06T11:33:23.932-07:00I love Peter Senge. I don't think that age has anything to do with the ability to change. I think the biggest factor in determining who will adapt is the personality "style" or leadership style of the individual. I think every "style" has positives as well as areas for growth. I also think that an authentic administrative leader recognizes their own leadership style as well as their staffs' and then brings out the best in everyone and provides professional development opportunities for staff to grow. If a teacher gets entrenched in their teaching style or methods and isn't adapting to change, it is as much the fault of their administrative leader for not articulating a clear vision of learning for their school that promotes the success of all students (ELCC #1.1). Some people just need to be helped "out" [of the building] and they could be rigid, inflexible 1st year teachers or they might be 30+ veterans! It is through supervision and setting high-standards (among other things) that will determine if the inflexible staff will be allowed to remain teaching.Andrea Christmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04708535087949160210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6986700879713815539.post-38846508220479525292009-07-26T16:38:08.754-07:002009-07-26T16:38:08.754-07:00Andrea, great blog.
